This document is a code of best practices that helps educators using media literacy concepts and techniques to interpret the copyright doctrine of fair use. Fair use is the right to use copyrighted material without permission or payment under some circumstances—especially when the cultural or social benefits of the use are predominant. It is a general right that applies even in situations where the law provides no specific authorization for the use in question—as it does for certain narrowly defined classroom activities.

Thanks for the link to my FeedVis project, Alice! I hope you found it useful. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or comments.
Alice, sorry to double-comment, but since you showed an interest in FeedVis, I wanted to let you know that I released an improved version today. Now you’re not just limited to examining education blogs–you can upload your own collection of feeds and get a custom tagcloud. Your tagcloud lives at a url you can bookmark and share; it gets updated with new posts every day, so you can see your feeds’ changing content. You can also browse tagclouds from other people’s feed collections. I’d love to hear what you think!
