The school district I work in offers a three credit course to teachers each summer with a follow up in the fall. This June we started with 16 teachers. It was a great test run for our Google Education domain. Thanks to our student helpers who are indespensible!

The iSchool Initiative

June 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

Thanks to Wes Fryer for posting this interesting project. It’s a student initiated movement  to get iPod touches into schools, called the iSchool Initiative. Check out the video. Travis makes a pretty compelling case! He even gives other students the tools to meet with their principal. There are some interesting ideas and I think as more tools are developed, the iPod touch might be a viable device for school. Good Luck Travis and friends!

Wow! Thanks to everyone who joined Bob, Cheryl, and I on June 2 for the PBS Teacher and Classroom 2.0 Webinar. It was so much fun to see old friends and make some new ones! If, however, you didn’t have a chance to come by, the session will be archived at PBS Teachers and Classroom 2.0 soon. Thanks so much to Steve Hargadon and Jenny Bradbury for hosting.

You can alo join us at at this companion website, the SEEDlings Ning, or Thursday nights at Ed Tech Talk. As always, we look forward to the conversation and learning with you!

MLTI Student Tech Team Conference

June 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We had a terrific day at the Student Tech team conference on Friday. Ben and Ben taught Quizlet to a small group and did a great job explaining the ins and outs of the collaborative flashcard program.

Our Google Super session was amazing. We interacted online with Susan Gendron, the Commisioner of Education in Maine, and George Nelson from NASA. Ernie Easter helped us in the audience, and Google Docs pulled it all together for us. Perhaps the most amazing part was that we over 550 people from around the globe to answer our survey. Here are the data points and survey charts. It was so much fun to work with Jim, Sarah, Kern, and Cheryl. Everyone just rolled with the whole session. We has 800 + people in the audience all on apple iBooks and MacBooks. Cisco had a great chart which showed how many people were on line at once.  Cheryl has done a great job blogging about our experience.
